07/29/25 update

Hello Folks!  It’s hard to believe it’s almost August. Path has been doing pretty well lately. As always - busy with appointments and spending time with friends and family! She has made progress with improved swallowing and has been able to eat some food. She is also able to move her left hand to her shoulder on her own- which is huge. Her left arm is showing signs of muscles being active and being used which is a massive step forward.  We had our consultation about her upcoming surgery- unfortunately the earliest it could be scheduled is 2 October. We are working with MFB to explore other hospitals who can perform the surgery to provide her with the care she needs as soon as possible.  We will keep you posted when we hear back from the team. Again - thank you all for the love and support. It is always appreciated! ♥️ - Elizabeth

07/02/2025 Update

Hello friends! I hope everyone is enjoying summer. It’s been pretty busy for us the past few weeks. We have some updates: - Path has her new glasses which will help her work her eye muscles and continue to improve her ability to focus. - we got her the promised cats - two brothers from Paws of Hope that are cute and funny. Path has already been trying to move her arms to pet them. - Path will be having an additional upcoming surgery in the next few weeks to insert a pump for medicine that will help her muscle spasms. The doctor is very confident this will help her ability to heal if she is not constantly fighting against tight muscles and pain. - Following surgery she will most likely do another round of therapy at Mary Free Bed to continue to focus on her healing. We don’t have dates or times yet but will hopefully have a better idea of timing in the next week or so. Have a wonderful holiday week! ❤️ - Elizabeth

June is Dysphagia Awareness Month

Image
June is dysphagia Awareness month - which is the medical term for a variety of issues surrounding difficulty swallowing. Over the past several months Path has been working incredibly hard on swallowing and remembering how to use the muscles in her mouth and throat. The good news is that she can safely swallow and building on that we will work on regaining her ability to eat food. She does continue to make progress with swallowing and we are excited to see how she progresses over the next few months. ❤️

Rummage Sale Fundraiser for Path

Image
On June 12th and 13th we held a rummage sale to benefit Path's therapies and other recovery needs. It was a huge success with over 20 different families who donated their items, and volunteers who helped sort and price, manage the sale, and then clean up! THANK YOU to everyone who donated so many wonderful items to the Rummage Sale and THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered their time to help organize, price, set up, manage, and clean up, as well as our lemonade stand kids! This was a massive undertaking and I could not have done it alone! Also THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by to shop and donate 💲! All together we raised $3118.46 for Path's therapies and other health and recovery needs! I would definitely say this was a success! 💕 -Lydia

05/24/2025 Update, Path attended the boys rugby match

Image
Yesterday was a big day. Path attended a few minutes of the boys rugby match at St. Joe (which they later went on to win). While we weren’t able to stay for long - it was a massive win for Path. Because the fact she was there for a few minutes meant that she was having a good day. She wanted to go. We only had to leave because I learned that two blankets are not equal to a jacket and she was cold. Path was brave and amazing and we are so proud of her. Next time we will pack more warm clothes and hopefully be able to stay out longer. ♥️ - Elizabeth

05/14/2025 - Update

We have had Path home for almost a month now. It’s wonderful and tiring and so nice for us all to be together again. We are settling into a new routine and getting used to our new speech, OT, and PT team. We are enjoying to continue to challenge Path with holding herself in an upright position - and she’s doing so so well. With determination and strength, she continues to move forward. ❤️🌈❤️ - Elizabeth
