09/25/2025 Update


Hello!

It has been an insane few weeks. Unfortunately we had some insurance issues which prevented Path from being admitted to MFB after her surgery. We have to travel every few days to MFB to follow up which is frustrating. The good news is Path is doing amazing. She is visibly improving and much more comfortable. Although the next few weeks will be tricky we sort out the follow ups with MFB - as seen by the slightly blurry pic - she is much happier. Steve made her laugh and smile. Her joy is the reason we continue to fight the good fight and keep moving forward. Here’s to getting through the next few crazy weeks. ♥️🌈♥️

Before I begin, a little about Path: Path is 16 years old, a sophomore at St. Joe High School, and she recently started her first job at Barnstormers Pizza. The Ramp Build: Day One

We completed day 1 of the ramp build to our house. An absolute massive thank you to: the Bader family and Jeremy Gill who helped organize and design the ramp. Lowe’s in Benton Harbor who donated the material. The team from Gast who were just amazing and our friends Ed, Jason, and Aliya who helped make sure everything ran smoothly today. We are excited to rest this evening (and warm up a bit) and get ready to finish it tomorrow. Thank you all so much for helping make sure our amazing child can come home safely. 💖

The Appleton family begins to prepare for Path to come home! (Fundraising goal raised)

Hello friends, family, and donors!   The Appleton family is overwhelmed with gratitude, and so am I! I can't believe we have raised over $28K! That's so amazing! THANK YOU!!!   The contributions and words of support have been a source of great comfort and reassurance during the most difficult time of their lives.    At this time, we would like to raise more money to best utilize a wide range of therapies, medical enhancements, and care.    Path's parents are in the very early stages of getting ready for her discharge. This is big and exciting news! But, with the level of care and equipment she will need, the funds we have raised so far will not cover it all, and neither will insurance.    I've raised the goal to $50k  and I'm asking for you to start sharing this link again.  We are also planning to do additional fundraising for the next stages.
